Eufy Camera Not Recording Events (12 Ways to Fix)

I used to be so excited when I first bought my Eufy camera. It was supposed to keep an eye on my house and record any suspicious activity.

But recently, it’s been missing a few key events that have made me frustrated. At first, I thought the problem might lie with the settings or the connection.

But after researching and testing different configurations, I found several possible solutions that fixed my Eufy.

So, in this article, I’ll walk you through the steps I’ve figured out and tried to fix the Eufy camera that wasn’t recording events.

Let’s get started!

How to Fix Eufy Camera Not Recording Events

These are the possible solutions that you should try to fix your Eufy camera.

Eufy Camera Not Recording Events

1. Enable Recording Mode

When your Eufy camera isn’t recording events, you should ensure that the recording feature in the Eufy app is enabled.

Most of the time, you cannot pay attention after setting up the camera; and this causes you to not record events.

You can enable the recording mode by going to the Eufy security app and then the events recording page. Here check that the switch next to the “events recording” is on.

2. Enable Motion Detection

Still, if your Eufy camera is not recording events, you should ensure that the motion detection feature is enabled for that particular camera.

You can turn on motion detection from the eufy security app. Here are the steps to enable motion detection.

1. Open the eufy app and tap on settings for the camera that isn’t recording events.

2. Scroll and select motion detection.

3. Toggle next to motion detection should be enabled (blue).

3. Increase Motion Sensitivity

Another essential thing you should consider is that the motion detection sensitivity for your eufy camera isn’t too low.

However, increasing the sensitivity will also cause an issue like false notifications when even detecting little movements in front of the camera.

So, you should move the sensitivity slider slowly and find a sweet spot where the camera record motion event or does not send false alerts.

All of the processes can take a few minutes, you should move the sensitivity slider and then go outside front of the camera to check if it is working.

4. Adjust the Motion Detection Area

Eufy cameras have an adjustable motion detection zone feature; when you are facing an issue that it isn’t recording motion events, ensure this detection zone is customised correctly.

Because if you don’t select the correct region in front of the camera or sometimes don’t select the important area, it can be a reason behind this situation.

Here are steps to customize the activity zone:

1. Open the eufy security app and go to the camera settings.

2. Then select motion detection > and activity zone.

3. Tap on the pencil icon to customize and select a specific area to record an event.

5. Check Battery Status

You should also check the battery status of your camera in the eufy security app to ensure that the camera is fully charged.

Although if you replaced the battery a few weeks ago, having a defective battery inserted into the camera might lead to this issue.

You can check the battery status of your camera with the help of the following steps:

1. Open the eufy security app on your connected smartphone.

2. And then select the camera you want to check.

3. Tap on settings, and you’ll see the battery icon under the name of your camera.

If the battery icon is red, it means the battery is completely drained; you should charge it. However, a green icon indicates that the battery is still enough to keep running the camera.

6. Power Cycle Camera

Power cycling the camera is another possible solution, which helps to refresh your camera and remove temporary glitches.

This method will include removing the camera’s power and then connecting it after a few minutes to the power source.

Here are steps to power cycle the eufy camera:

1. Locate the circuit breaker at your house or office.

2. Flip the breaker to the “off” position.

3. Wait about a minute after turning the breaker off.

4. Flip it to its “on” position again and check if the camera works.

7. Reset Eufy Camera

Besides all methods, you should also try a factory reset method for your eufy device. A factory reset is used to roll back the device to its default factory settings.

After resetting, your camera will be refreshed, and such kinds of software bugs or glitches will be removed.

Also, resetting will remove the footage which is recorded on it. So, you should back up your data before resetting it.

Here are steps to reset the Eufy camera:

1. Locate the sync button on your Eufy camera; it will vary depending on your model.

2. Press and hold the sync button for about 10 seconds.

3. Release the button when you hear a beep, and then your camera will be turned back to its factory default settings.

8. Check Wi-Fi Connection

Internet connection is also essential for the eufy camera to communicate with the app and record events or receive notifications.

If your camera isn’t connected to a stable and strong Wi-Fi connection, it will never record events.

You can check the Wi-Fi connection by connecting to your mobile phone or laptop. And then, open the web browser and ensure it is working.

If your phone or laptop cannot load or open the webpage, it means your network connection is faulty; you’ll need to fix it.

9. Update the eufy Security app

The Eufy security app is also a key component in setting up your Eufy camera and receiving events recording alerts.

If your app is running on an outdated version, it will keep showing such an issue. So, you should check that you are using the latest version of the eufy security app.

Because in the latest updated versions of the apps, manufacturers provide you with improved features and security and remove any kind of malfunctioning of the app.

You can update the eufy app by following the below steps:

1. Open the Play Store or Apps Store app on your phone.

2. Tap the search icon and type the name of the eufy app.

3. Click on the official app icon.

4. If the latest update for the eufy app is available there, you’ll see a button labelled with “Update.”

5. You should tap this update button and wait until it is completed.

10. Reset Router

A strong and stable Wi-Fi connection ensures that your camera is recording events and sending notifications.

However, if you are facing issues with your Wi-Fi connection, the connection is not stable, or you are facing other issues, you should factory reset it.

Performing a factory reset for your router will turn it back to its factory default settings and remove the device bugs causing issues.

You can follow the below steps to reset your Wi-Fi router:

1. Locate the reset button at the back of your router.

2. Then press and hold the reset button with the help of a paperclip or other similar tool.

3. Keep holding the button for about 15 seconds and then release it.

4. Wait a few seconds for the router to finish the reset and completely turns back on.

11. Place Router Closer

Lastly, when your Eufy camera still isn’t recording events, you should ensure that your Wi-Fi router connected to the camera is located closer.

Your Wi-Fi router should be placed within the range of 30ft of your eufy camera. Also, several factors can cause to weakened Wi-Fi signals.

So, if you’ve placed your router far away from your Eufy camera, try relocating it and moving closer to the Eufy device.

12. Clear Camera Lens

After installing your eufy camera outside for a long time becomes dirty; dust or debris can accumulate on the camera lens.

It causes to block the camera lens, and that’s why your camera isn’t recording events. You should check if this is the reason for cleaning your Eufy camera.

You can clean it with a clean cloth or tissue paper and then move in front of the camera to ensure the event recording is working.

13. Contact Customer Support
