While this can be frustrating, there are actually a few reasons why it happens, and usually, it’s not anything to worry about.

So, let’s get started!

If your Arlo camera is offline after you have changed your WiFi router or made changes to the internet connection, you should press and hold the sync button on the base station.

And then LED light blink for 10 seconds, and the camera will start working normally.

If it is not working, these are the possible solutions you should try first.

Quick Fixes

  • You should keep the Arlo base station and wire-free camera closer
  • If there are other WiFi devices, you should keep them away from your camera
  • Check the LEDs behavior by removing batteries from your Arlo camera
  • Check and charge its batteries fully
  • Check the Arlo base station status, that it is connected to the WiFi
  • Perform a factory reset for the Arlo camera

Keep Closer to Base Station

Firstly the issue can be with your camera due to the long distance between your Arlo wire-free camera and SmartHub. If the camera is too far from the base station, it can keep going offline or disconnect.

Ensure the distance is not more than 300 feet (90 meters), and keep in mind that there are no more metal or thick walls between the camera and the base station.

These objects can interfere with the camera’s signals and go offline.

You should reconnect the camera with the base station if the camera is offline. And keep them in the 3 to 6 feet range while trying to connect them.

Other WiFi Devices Keep Away

If your Arlo camera keeps going offline, other WiFi routers can be closer to the SmartHub. So, the system can experience a wifi signal congestion.

If this is the situation, you should move the base station to the other place away from the other wifi.

If possible, you should turn the other connection off so the other wifi signals can not interfere with the base station.

The LED Does Not Light

If the LEDs are not lighting, you should check to ensure that the batteries are correctly installed and the batteries are not completely dead.

Blinks Blue Rapidly

If the LED blinks blue while installing the batteries, it is connected to the base station.

Blink Blue Once

If the LED blinks blue once, you should resync the camera with the base station.

Blink Amber

At installing batteries, if LED blinks Amber, the batteries need to be replaced.

When you are sure what the issue with your Arlo camera is, you should try to fix it and follow the steps below.

Check Arlo Base Station Status

You have to check whether the base station is connected to the Internet or not. If it is not connected to the internet, it can be offline due to this. So, firstly you should check the base station LED status, and if it is not connected to the Internet, you should connect it.

You should verify that the Ethernet cable is connected to a Lan connection. You can follow the below steps to fix the Ethernet cable.

  1. Remove both ends of the cable and inspect the cable; it is not damaged, frayed, or torn.
  2. You can try another cable if the internet connection restores
  3. You should reinsert the cable into the base station and router; ensure both ends are securely connected

If the issue still persists, you should read the complete details on How to troubleshoot the base station.
