Hikvision Camera Not Showing on Monitor (7 Ways to Fix)

These are a few possible solutions that you should try to resolve your Hikvision camera issues. 

#1. Fix Camera Power Issues

When you are having an issue with your camera that it isn’t showing on the monitor you should check all power connections. 

You should ensure the power adapter is inserted properly into the outlet and receiving electricity to perform correctly. 

Also, you should check the power outlet because sometimes it can be faulty or not provide enough power to the camera. 

Also if you are using an analog CCTV system, check the connection between the CCTV system and the monitor or tv. 

You should check all the cables and make sure they are connected firmly or not damaged one of the cables. 

#2. Customize Video Input & Output Settings

If your Hikvision camera isn’t showing anything on the monitor you should check the video input and output settings. 

The camera should be set to output video and also check the correct input is selected on your monitor/ TV.

If you are using Network Video Recorder (NVR) it should be connected to the connection in order to work properly. 

So, you should ensure that the system is connected to the network connection and your network is functioning properly as well. 

You should also check your router and camera distance it should be within 30 feet range of your camera system. 

Also, you can power cycle your Wi-Fi router if it does not work you should perform a factory reset for the router and get it working back.

If still your camera isn’t showing on the monitor, you can perform a factory reset for your device. Resetting the device will remove all data and software bugs that cause issues. 

Note: You should back up your data from the camera before resetting because resetting the device will erase all of your stored video and files.

1. Press and hold the reset button from your camera for about 30 seconds when it is powered on and then power it off. 

2. Continue pressing the reset button for 30 seconds until it power back on. 

3. Then press and hold the button for a final 30 seconds and let it go. 

#6. Update Firmware

You can also check your device firmware to ensure it runs on the latest version because, if it is outdated can cause several issues such as the video or connection. 

If you have come to know that your Hikvision camera is running on outdated firmware you should download the appropriate firmware from the Hikvision website

Note: The firmware is region specific; installing the update for another region can cause damage to your device. 

Here is how you can update your Hikvision camera firmware:

1. Once you’ve downloaded the firmware file, unzip/ extract content onto your computer desktop. 

2. Then log into the camera using the Internet Explorer browser. 

3. Go to the configuration tab, and then from the basic configuration go to the System and select Maintenance tab. 

4. On the bottom of the maintenance page click the Browse button to select the firmware file. 

5. Next, select the firmware file named digicap.dav on your desktop and tap the Upgrade button. 

6. Your camera will be rebooted after successfully firmware is installed. 

#7. Contact Customer Support 

If none of the above solutions has fixed your Hikvision security camera, you should look at the device carefully and ensure the camera hardware isn’t damaged or broken. 

If so, you should get in touch with an expert, or you can contact the Hikvision support team for further assistance.
