So, I researched online to figure out why this issue is happening. After deep research, I found possible ways to do it.

In this article, I’ll walk you through the steps as to why your Owlet camera isn’t connecting and how you can fix it.

Let’s get started!

Why is Owlet Camera Not Connecting

There are a lot of reasons for your Owlet camera not to connect with Wi-Fi, such as a faulty Wi-Fi connection, Internet interference, camera software bugs, or the app’s fault.

Owlet Camera Not Connecting

Network Interference

There are possibilities that network interferences or the network traffic is interfering with your camera, resulting in connection issues.

Incorrect Router Settings

It is possible that the router settings are not correctly customized according to your Owlet camera, which causes device connectivity problems.

Faulty App

The Owlet mobile application is responsible for communication between the camera, Wi-Fi network, and mobile phone.

Sometimes the app might be faulty and results in you being unable to connect the camera device to your phone or Internet.

Camera Issues

The camera devices have software designed to communicate with your devices and connect with the Internet. However, when the device software runs into a problem, it causes several problems, and connectivity is one of them.

There are a number of ways to resolve the camera software issues or remove the software bugs, which we have discussed below.

Incorrect Device Placement

One of the other common reasons for your Owlet camera malfunctioning is the incorrect router or camera placement.

Most Wi-Fi-enabled devices can communicate correctly within the 50 to 70 feet range. If you’ve placed your router far from the camera, you will face this issue continually.

How to Fix Owlet Camera Not Connecting

As we have discussed a few possible reasons for your Owlet camera connection problem, now you have a better understanding to fix it.

When it comes to fixing the camera, you should follow the detailed methods outlined below:

Owlet Camera Not Connecting

1. Put Camera Into Pairing Mode

If the app isn’t discovering the camera, you should ensure that it is in pairing mode because the app will be unable to discover it until you put it into pairing mode.

The pairing mode allows the app to discover a device closer to it and connect it to the Wi-Fi and your phone once discovered.

Here is how you can put the camera into the pairing mode:

1. Access your Owlet camera and ensure the camera indicator LED is bright blue.

2. Then locate the pairing button on the back of your camera.

3. Hold it down for about 3 seconds, and wait for the blinking blue and red camera.

4. Once all is done, go to the Owlet app and continue the setup process.

You can do so by clicking on the Plus+ icon/ Add Device option in the Owlet app and then following the on-screen instruction to finish the process.

2. Re-Install the Owlet App

As you know, the app is responsible for the camera communication between your phone and connecting with the Wi-Fi network or performing other features.

If the app is malfunctioning, it should be resolved in order to get your camera connected and working back.

In case, you can try resolving the problem by uninstalling and installing back it on your smartphone.

It should remove the app caches, bugs, or other app software problems causing the camera issues.

You can Re-Install your Owlet app following the below instructions:

1. Turn on your phone and locate the Owlet app from the phone screen.

2. Long press the app icon and click on Uninstall

1. You can install the app by visiting the Apple Store or the Play Store apps.

2. Click on the search icon and search the Owlet app.

3. Tap on Download, and wait until it is downloaded.

3. Power Cycle Camera

To work, the camera should be plugged into the power outlet, but sometimes you may have noticed a monitor issue with the power supply that could cause it to malfunction.

A possible solution to the problem is power cycling your Owlet device. Which will help to remove the software bugs and refresh it to work properly.

Here is how you can power cycle your Owlet cam:

1. Locate the power adapter of the camera.

2. Unplug it from the power adapter and wait for about 1 minute.

3. Replug the camera power adapter into the outlet and test whether it works.

4. Change Camera Position

Having a weak Wi-Fi network connection is the reason for your camera to prevent it from connecting. The connection issues can be due to devices’ incorrect position or the long distance between them.

So, you should check your camera and router positions to ensure they are closer.

If the router is far from the camera, you should change its position and bring it closer to your Owlet device.

Moving the router closer to your camera will improve the Wi-Fi signal strength and help you get a solid network connection.

5. Fix Wi-Fi Connection

When you are continually facing issues with your smart camera, you should check and fix your Internet connection.

Mostly a faulty Wi-Fi connection causes this kind of issue; that’s why you should check your Wi-Fi speed using online Internet speed checker software.

If this software test shows the Wi-Fi connection isn’t stable or weak, you should fix it following a few below methods.

6. Remove Interferences

Your Wi-Fi connection is weak due to too many Internet interferences. You should look for your router connectivity limits to ensure you’ve exceeded them.

You can also disconnect a few devices connected to the router that you are currently not using.

You should also move other devices that are placed in the way of your router and camera. These devices can emit radio waves and cause interference with the Wi-Fi connection.

7. Reset the Router

Performing a factory reset can also be a solution when the camera isn’t connecting. Factory reset will restore the camera to its default factory settings.

Also, resetting will remove the device’s software glitches/ bugs that are causing the network problems.

Here is how you can reset your Wi-Fi router:

1. Turn on your router and locate the reset button at the back of the device.

2. Press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds.

3. Release the button, and wait until it reboots automatically.

8. Reset Owlet Camera

If none of the solutions has worked for your Owlet cam, you can try the camera resetting method. A factory reset is one of the best approaches against software bugs/ glitches.

After resetting, your camera will be rolled back to its factory default settings. Also, you should back up your data because it will wipe from your device after resetting.

Here is how you can reset your Owlet camera:

1. Press and hold the reset from the back of the camera for about 15+ seconds until the status light turns off and you hear a response message “Resettings, please wait.”

2. Now, release the button once you hear the spoken message.

Then wait a few seconds until the camera enters the pairing mode; it will be in pairing mode when the status light is alternating red and blue.

Note: if pressing the reset button for 15 seconds does not initiate the reset, you can hold down the button for about 50 to 60 seconds.

9. Contact Customer Support

If still your Owlet camera isn’t connecting, you should consider contacting the Owlet customer support team.

The customer support team will look deeply into this situation, provide you with other detailed solutions, and get the devices working back.
